Being a newbie to everything crypto-related, he didn\u2019t really know what to do. So I guided him and then I decided to share that with you through this article.<\/p>\n<p>As a start, I advised my friend to use <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Etherscan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Etherscan is the most notorious block explorer of the Ethereum blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>It is simply a search engine to verify transactions. It is mainly a read-only interface to the Ethereum blockchain. Thus, it won\u2019t be able to interfere with your private or public keys and will only monitor the transaction\u2019s info.<\/p>\n<p>It is a great tool to explore the Ethereum public ledger blockchain and see different transactions. Etherscan exists as an independent entity and is not funded by the Ethereum foundation.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"HOW_TO_USE_IT\"><\/span>HOW TO USE IT?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ether_transaction\"><\/span><em>Ether transaction<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Etherscan makes you able to check the status of your transaction, the amount of gas used, the number of block confirmations etc. To see your transaction&#8217;s info, look up its hash on Etherscan.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take his Ether transaction as an example:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1636\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.satt-token.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Group-60-1-300x157.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"367\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/satt-token.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Group-60-1-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/satt-token.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Group-60-1-1024x537.png 1024w, https:\/\/satt-token.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Group-60-1-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/satt-token.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Group-60-1.png 1127w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1Transaction_hash\"><\/span><strong>1.Transaction hash:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This is basically the transaction\u2019s ID, a unique identifier for every single transaction.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2Status\"><\/span><strong>2.Status:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This indicated the status of the transaction. It makes you see if the transaction was successful or not. In our case, it was. Here it is equal to 0.005 Ether.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5Transaction_fee\"><\/span><strong>5.Transaction fee:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This is how much that transaction costs (transaction fee=gas cost * gas used)<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6Gas_limit_gas_used_by_transaction_and_gas_price\"><\/span><strong>6.Gas limit, g<\/strong><strong>as used by transaction and g<\/strong><strong>as price<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This section shows the maximum amount of gas the sender is willing to buy for the transaction, the actual amount of gas used and the price of gas in Ether (One Gwei is 10^-9 Ether).<\/p>\n<p>To know more about gas, check out <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.satt-token.com\/blog\/2019\/07\/15\/gas-a-vehicles-fuel-or-a-digital-ammunition\/\">this article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7Nonce\"><\/span><strong>7.Nonce:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>A number that represents the number of transactions the sender\u2019s account has made on the network. It increases with every transaction. Here you can see that the user who sent the SaTT tokens to my friend has made 102 transactions.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ERC-20_token_transaction\"><\/span><em>ERC-20 token transaction<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For a not yet listed token, the transaction info on Etherscan would look like this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1623\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.satt-token.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Capture-d\u2019e\u0301cran-2019-07-17-a\u0300-12.30.05-PM-300x193.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"450\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>The difference between this transaction and the first one is that the value for this one is 0 Ether since we are sending SaTT Tokens.
