IBM x Stellar

ibm

IBM announced that it was participating in an interesting crypto project, also realized on the blockchain Stellar.

Today, less than two months after the announcement, IBM releases its payment solution based on blockchain stellar.

The new solution called IBM Blockchain World Wire combines the Stellar blockchain with digital resources to make instant cash transfers possible.

The new Stellar-based platform describes itself as a “financial rail capable of simultaneously executing and settling cross-border payments in near real-time”.

According to IBM, World Wire easily integrates with any existing payment system and supports payments of any size, destination, and asset type in a highly secure environment.

IBM gives more information by saying, “With IBM Blockchain World Wire, the ultimate clearing and settlement is in near real-time.The solution uses digital assets to settle the transactions – serving as a store of value exchanged between the parties – and incorporating payment instruction messages, which means that funds can now be transferred at a fraction of the cost and time of operations similar to the traditional banking system. “

A cat generation 9  from the Cryptokittie game, built on the Ethereum blockchain, has just been traded for 150,000 €.

kittie

If you do not know Cryptokittie yet, here is a quick overview of the game built on Ethereum that made a splash at the end of 2017, to the point of saturating the network.

A cryptokittie is a small digital animal (which looks like a cat) that you can buy and reproduce by spending your ETH. Two cats must mate to give birth to a third cat, which will then be of generation 2. All the process is recorded on the Ethereum blockchain, which makes it possible to certify the unicity and the property of the kitties.

It is therefore a collector’s game, one of the first on the blockchain Ethereum, but also and especially the first to have met a phenomenal success. Its popularity in 2017 led to the congestion of the Ethereum network, the first time it really had to deal with its scalability problems.

Since then, the soufflé has subsided and only a few relentless people continue to exchange and reproduce the digital cats of Cryptokitties.

And if the game comes back to the news, it’s because a 9th generation cat, Kitty # 896755, has just been sold for 600 ETH, the equivalent of 150 000 €.

Just that. And of course, as everything that happens on the blockchain is public and certain

The start-up Carverr.

The start-up to find a way to store and save Bitcoin private keys for example, in the DNA.

carverr

According to Carverr, nearly 30% of Bitcoin private keys are lost at some point, so it was necessary to find other more reliable ways to get around this problem. For Carverr, this solution uses standard encryption combined with a DNA encoding to store your private key for eternity. They think that flash memory and traditional tapes will become obsolete and that storing in DNA is the future.

Carverr is passionate about “exploring the possibilities offered by nature”. For Carverr, all that is natural has a limit, they want to find and test that limit in order to change the way we interact with technology. While this may sound odd, Carverr CEO Vishaal Bhuyan said that DNA is a different, but legitimate, encryption tool than any other encryption tool. In addition, the DNA used is synthetic DNA.

The DNA containing the data will look like a drop of liquid at the bottom of a test microtube. The tube should be stored in a cold space, such as the freezer to better preserve it. And whenever the data owner wants it, he can have it read at a lab with a sequencing machine.
The Carverr service offers a sophisticated conversion system for added security. Even if the bottle is stolen, you must know the conversion system to be able to decipher it.
